Edinburgh Frocktails #2

Sew Scottish

Spurred on by jealousy of all the meetups happening elsewhere in the world, we launched Edinburgh Frocktails in 2017. It is an event where sewists can meet up, chat about sewing and admire each others handmade makes whilst partaking in a cocktail or two. It is a celebration of all things handmade and we wanted an opportunity to meet people in person (and potentially even fondle their handmades – ooh er!).

This is the second Frocktails event and we hope it can become an annual affair. We’re a friendly bunch so if you don’t know anyone in real life to come along with you don’t be afraid – you will be welcomed with open arms.

8th September, 7pm – midnight.

Newsroom, Leith Street, Edinburgh

The event is being held in the downstairs room of the Newsroom. We have made the event ticketed this year to make life easier for payments and to ensure we have a clear number of who is coming. Included in the price of your ticket is the room hire, a buffet and DJ. Drinks can be purchased at the bar.

To buy tickets follow this link and use the password EDFROCKS

There is a hashtag #Edinburghfrocktails and #sewscottish if you want to join in the chat in advance on Instagram.

Edinburgh Frocktails 2018

We will run a raffle on the day for our charity of choice, Mary’s Meals, with prizes from a range of fabric and pattern companies. Mary’s Meals is a fantastic Scottish charity that started in Malawi providing meals to children attending school. For families living in poverty often there is a choice between sending your kids to school vs sending your kids to the fields. By guaranteeing these children one meal a day Mary’s Meals has had huge success in retaining children in education and giving them a route out of poverty. Their school feeding programmes are owned and run by community volunteers in the countries where they provide food. For example, there are over 80,000 volunteers in Malawi who take turns to prepare, cook and serve the daily meal in each school.

Please note – this event is run by volunteers. This is not a business for us and we are doing this in our spare time. Therefore please be patient if we don’t respond immediately to your request.
